Also, make sure your headlights and windshield wipers are on. Headlights make it easier for you to see other vehicles and they allow the other cars to see you as well. Visibility is extremely important. Similarly, your windshield wipers will help you to see your surroundings.
Next, It is always best to allow lots of room between your vehicle and others, but this is especially important in the rain, and even more so in snow and ice. To stop on ice and snow, it takes between four and ten times more distance than it does on dry asphalt. Tire chains help with this a lot. Make sure they fit perfectly.
Lastly, make sure you are prepared for anything. Have an emergency kit, water, non-perishable food, and extra warm clothes in your car, and make sure you have emergency phone numbers of people you can call if you need help.

"I found a final exam question misleading. The final exam question regarding the NHTSA study about distracted driving states "over 80%" whereas the course material stated "80%". I thought this was a "trick" true or false question and, therefore, got it wrong. You might consider removing the word "over" in the final exam question. "
